Services

Legacy Data Infrastructure Modernisation

Transitioning on-premises SQL Server environments to containerised, version-controlled pipelines using Docker and dbt. I specialise in untangling stored procedures, SQL Agent jobs, and brittle ETL workflows into maintainable, testable data models.

Custom Internal Tooling

Replacing slow spreadsheets and manual processes with lightweight desktop or web applications. Using Go, Python, and Streamlit, I build local-first tools — BoM managers, data documentation generators, DDL tools — that keep sensitive data on your infrastructure.

Data Pipeline Engineering

Building event-driven pipelines to move data reliably from source to storage. I implement Kafka and MinIO architectures for real-time ingestion, and dbt-based transformation layers that make your data warehouse maintainable long-term.

Data Warehouse Cleanup & Migration

Auditing and restructuring existing data warehouses: identifying broken views, redundant objects, and undocumented dependencies. I produce clean documentation, DDL exports, and migration plans so your team understands and controls what they have — before moving it anywhere.

About Me

I'm William, a data engineer based in Helsinki with a background that spans mechanical engineering, industrial R&D, and data infrastructure. I've worked across oil & gas, steel manufacturing, medical devices, and academia — which means I understand the messy, legacy-heavy environments most engineers actually deal with. My focus is modernising data infrastructure and building internal tooling: replacing fragile stored procedures and manual workflows with containerised, version-controlled pipelines, and building tools that engineering and data teams actually want to use. I work with Go, Python, SQL, Docker, and dbt. I'm available for freelance projects — particularly for engineering or industrial companies that need someone who speaks both the domain and the data layer.
